We finally got all the furniture that we need for the living room. The DVD stand in the corner from Crate and Barell now fills up the corner of our living room and holds all of the DVD's. As you can see, I also ran all of the cables for the TV throught the wall, and out of the way. It's all coming together.

I finally finished the holes in the ceiling. The one in the closet is now closed.. and the one in the ceiling is now insulated. I can now get access Easily. Much better then it was when I first got the house.



 

Finally put in the grout for the countertop. It was an epoxy grout that is impenetrable, so no mold growing in it :-) Looks pretty nice.


 

One big project that I finished is the atic stairs. This was a big one for me because I hated going through the tiny little hole in the closet that I had to before to do all the work that I had been doing. It's a Werner Pulldown Attic Ladder. It's a metal frame, and can hold up to 300 lbs. Plenty. The install was not bad as it is a 2 piece. You install the frame first, then the ladder just hooks up and then you bolt the rest down. Not to bad. I just need to make a insulated cap for it. Instead of buying one for $100 + I can make one out of 2" 4'x8' Hard Insulation. I'll post directions when I complete it.



 

We bought a new light for the hall way as you can see. It's much nicer then the old one from the 50's and much brighter. Though this light is not energy star, but it looks nice. Since the rest of our house is energy star, it's not too big of a deal. I also installed the last of the tile for the countertop. Now I just need to grout the tile, and it will be finished. That will be the big day.

 

I did some work in the basement and moved some things around. I put the washer and dryer together, and removed part of the platform it was on. I plan to remove the rest of the platform and put the washer and dryer under the new cabinet I hung. (inplace of the compressor ;-p ) I also finished up the peg board, though I need some more peg holders to hold the rest of my tools. It's much better now though.

 

I have not updated pictures in a while, so the next couple posts will catch up to the current day. In the basement, I repaired the legs on the Utility sink. The old legs were rotted out from the water that used to get in the basement. Speaking of water, I installed the battery backup sump pump. Now I should never get water in the basement again. We've had some serious rain and the standard sump has handeled it all, now with the battery backup we should be good even if the power goes out.

Getting closer to finishing up the kitchen. Installed the kick molding below the cabinets, installed the light above the sink, and cut all the back splash tile. just need to install it now. There is a little cutting left, but it looks nice.
